Delegate!
Don’t try to do everything yourself, you’ll stress out and not enjoy the planning or the wedding. If you can hire a wedding planner then fab but if you can’t then make sure you delegate tasks to family and friends in advance.
Allow contingency time in your schedule,
things can always overrun, especially getting ready which can have a domino effect on the rest of the day. Allow lots of time for each part of the wedding. Many couples holding weddings at gorgeous venues with all day hire, sometimes plan the schedule squashing everything in to make an early rukhsati, when, after having a conversation we realise they can spread the day out a bit more and allow themselves and their guests to enjoy the wedding day. Even with banquet hall weddings, if brides and grooms get ready much earlier they can schedule portrait sessions in with ample time.
Choose your suppliers carefully,
try to go on recommendations not just from a hot tiktok or how many followers a supplier has. Make sure you know the supplier has your best interests as a priority, and not their own social media. Some suppliers like photographers and makeup artists spend a fair bit of time with you on the wedding so you want to make sure you get on really well with them, and they should be making you feel comfortable the whole way through.

I have streamlined my booking process to make life easier for couples but having an online portal for them to check quotes, invoices, contracts etc. Couples have enough lists and suppliers to go through without added paperwork.
Communication is key, Couples tend to send me the wedding schedule to make sure there is enough time for bridal and couple portraits and if I feel any tweaks are needed to optimise their day, this helps to manage expectations.

Build a rapport with your vendor and really get to know them first to make sure they fit your needs. If possible, always meet them in person either at their office or ideally at the venue if you already have one finalised. Weddings can be stressful, so good communication with your vendor can really help put your mind at ease!
Start planning as early as possible and get a few different quotes,
but don’t just assume they are all like for like. Have a look not only at what they’re providing, but the quality of their work too. Be open about other quotes you’ve received and don’t be afraid to ask questions if you don’t understand any parts of it or why they differ in price from another quote.
Trust who you’ve chosen,
Once you’ve discussed your brief or shared your mood boards, try to let go and see what your vendor comes back with. Most wedding suppliers are creatives at heart and will always push the boundaries for you when allowed to do so.
